Level
One:
The most
sustainable, non-toxic, earth friendly level. These coatings
consist primarily of plant based resins, non-toxic minerals
and elements. "Earthpaint"
itself falls into this category since it's a paint made from
clay in the backyard. Also at this level are: Venetian Plaster,
all of our Wood Finishes,
Clay Plaster, Stone Coat Masonry Hardener, and Stone Coat
Wall Primer & Paint. Earthpaint's Level One finishes are
non petro-chemical based coatings and their lifecycle is
very good.
Level
Two:
These coatings have a balance of non-toxic components
without the poisons of conventional paints. They are
excellent formulations that balance performance, toxicity,
sustainability lifecycle and cost.
Our formulations at this level are engineered to be ultra
high performing. We strive for this because often the least
toxic paint does not always mean the best paint. If a
non-toxic paint fails then people will not continue to use it and choose
a more toxic alternative, thus, harming themselves and the
planet, which hurts everyone.
Products in this level seek to correct this dilemma. This is
especially pertinent for wall paints. Many people have less
allergenic reactions to Pure Acrylic and certain solvents
than they have to natural plant based substances. They also
dry faster, go on easier and are very affordable. At
Earthpaint we labor intensely to make the least toxic / best
performing coatings. Clear Skies Paint line is in this
category.
Level
Three:
These are the coatings that need to have the highest level
of performance in the least toxic way. For use on projects
where the application is very demanding. Non-toxic Polyurethane,
Urethane, Lacquer, some fast drying soy and linseed paints fall into this category. These contain
some level of toxicity but much less than most level four
coatings. Earthpaint Inc makes Level Three coatings for
people on a custom order basis only.
Level
Four:
Regular, conventional paint containing
toxic solvents, biocides, driers, toxic petrochemicals etc,
Additionally, these paints are not made with sustainability
and toxicity as primary considerations. Ethylene Glycol,
Formaldehyde, Benzene, NMP,
TEA, APES etc. are just some of the dangerous substances in these coatings.
